{"id":24008,"date":"2026-06-18T06:46:11","date_gmt":"2026-06-18T06:46:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vakkimsa.com\/cat\/blog\/2026\/07\/22\/do-you-need-to-empty-viscous-products-from-open-tanks-or-large-volume-containers\/"},"modified":"2026-07-22T08:07:15","modified_gmt":"2026-07-22T08:07:15","slug":"do-you-need-to-empty-viscous-products-from-open-tanks-or-large-volume-containers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vakkimsa.com\/cat\/blog\/2026\/06\/18\/do-you-need-to-empty-viscous-products-from-open-tanks-or-large-volume-containers\/","title":{"rendered":"Do you need to empty viscous products from open tanks or large-volume containers?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">In some industrial processes, the challenge is not simply pumping the product, but achieving reliable suction when working with high-viscosity, low-flow fluids.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At an international trade fair, we had the opportunity to learn about a real case first-hand: a food-sector producer needed to extract concentrated tomato sauce \u2014 with a viscosity of approximately \ud835\udff0,\ud835\udfec\ud835\udfec\ud835\udfec \ud835\uddf0\ud835\udde3\ud835\ude00 \u2014 from the top of an \ud835\udddc\ud835\uddd5\ud835\uddd6 \ud835\ude01\ud835\uddee\ud835\uddfb\ud835\uddf8, without transferring the product to another vessel or resorting to bottom discharge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When emptying open tanks, virtually complete drainage can be guaranteed; IBCs, however, make this more difficult and tend to leave residual product. Even so, the ease of emptying this type of product from IBCs can sometimes outweigh the potential product loss \u2014 as was the case here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For a large IBC with a relatively small opening, we proposed our <strong>Piton\u00ae progressive cavity pump<\/strong>, specifically the ISR model: a monobloc, submersible, vertical progressive cavity pump designed to operate directly immersed in the product.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/vakkimsa.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/07\/1781772299265-1024x576.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-24007\" srcset=\"https:\/\/vakkimsa.com\/cat\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/07\/1781772299265-1024x576.png 1024w, https:\/\/vakkimsa.com\/cat\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/07\/1781772299265-300x169.png 300w, https:\/\/vakkimsa.com\/cat\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/07\/1781772299265-768x432.png 768w, https:\/\/vakkimsa.com\/cat\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/07\/1781772299265.png 1488w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The \ud835\udde3\ud835\uddf6\ud835\ude01\ud835\uddfc\ud835\uddfb\u00ae \ud835\udddc\ud835\udde6\ud835\udde5 allows the pumping elements \u2014 rotor and stator \u2014 to be submerged in the product itself, ensuring stable and continuous suction.
